It is about to be that time again. Where those people either move another grade or start moving on with their lives or forget about school. Almost everyone is pumped and excited about moving another grade level because that would mean either meeting new people or staying with the same classmates. The Sakura blossoms are caught by the wind that blows by everyone. Its spring and where the story begins.
Masato is about to check the school board when suddenly he is called by the principle to meet him in the office. Did he do something wrong or did it have to do with errands already? He reaches the principle's room and knocks on the door.
It opens like a ghost.
"Come in" a voice was heard
Masato bite his lip as he entered the office. The door slams on him. Really. did he already do something to offend the school principle?
"Come closer"
"Kocho, did I do something wrong?" Masato asked. He was looking around the office for the school principle but he didn't see him instead he saw someone dressed so elite.
"Have a seat first"
Masato set in a random chair. Was he in trouble by the government now? Did he offend anyone by any chance? Where one of his essays too offensive? All of these questions kept appearing in Masato's head to the point where he gave himself a headache.
"So why do you think you are here?" The voice said.
Masato bit his bottom lip. "I might have offended the government."
The voice chuckled. "No, no... My dear silly boy"
"I didn't," Masato asked relieved.
"No you didn't." The voice smiled. "On that table next to you is a letter directed for you."
Masato looked at the desk table. There really was an elegant letter standing right there. The envelope looked so expensive. Masato took a hold of it. Why was he receiving a letter? He was extremely confused. He slowly opened the envelope so it won't rip too gross. There was a little tear but only a little one but it still managed to ruin the envelope. He peaked into the envelope only to see a piece of paper.
It too looked so very elegant and expensive. What was up with these elegant envelop and papers? Masato now really, really was curious. He took out the letter and there it was...an offer to join Kuroi Yuro Academy a school he never, ever heard in his life.
"Congratulations, Masato. They noticed your skills" the voice said
"Wait? What do you mean?" Masato asked confused. "I'm already a second year in high school."
"And your point?"
"Nothing. Never mind." Masato said as he placed the letter back in its envelope.
"There is a ride provided for you outside right now. That academy is an elite. Good luck Masato. Hope to see you alive"
"What? Wait what do you mean?" Masato asked. "I have to go now?"
"You don't want them waiting don't you? That academy is a lot better than this one"
Masato bit his lip. "Hold on let me read this first." Masato took out the papers and started reading through them. There even was a picture of the school.
"Hurry because I think there are people coming right now"
Masato jumped off the chair and followed this stranger outside of the office while reading through the papers. "Wait. I don't have this kind of money."
"That's why we provided a scholarship"
"A what?" Masato read through another paper. "What about this school?"
"Which one?"
"I mean this one." Masato pointed to his old school but it looked pretty run down and beat compared the school he was being offered to go to. Not to mention the education in his old high school wasn't so great.
"You don't want better education?"
Masato scratched the back of his head. "I do want to be a doctor." was his answer.
"Well then. Kuroi Yuro is the place for you"
Masato nodded. "Okay. I will check it out but may I consider?"
The men shrugged. "Get in"
Masato frowned. Was that a no? He got in the car anyway. He really wanted to see this school.
It took more than an hour to reach Kuroi Yoru Academy. The school seemed to be in the middle of nowhere but it did look extremely elite. It reminded him of Versailles in France. The two looked so similar accept this one was smaller and had less still it was extremely beautiful.
"Welcome to Kuroi Yoru academy. Hope you love it here" The men bowed.
Masato got out of the car. This school really was way out of his league or so he thought to himself but everything about it was simply wonderful.
"Over here are the two dorms and behind it is the gym"
"Dorms? You mean I have to live here?" Masato asked pausing on his steps. His mother didn't even know he was here.
"We are just giving you a tour of the academy. It is your choice if you want to be here."
Masato sighed relief. "Okay. On with the tour please."
The men pointed at each different building and described what each building had. It took about an hour to finish the so called tour. "So what do you think?"
"First off, how much are the uniforms?" Masato asked.
"Free"
"Where do I get?"
"The uniforms are personally made to fit your body so you will need to get them measured in the nurse's office"
"Oh." Masato said. "I need to speak to my mother first."
"Here" The man handed a phone to Masato
Masato just looked at the phone. Really?  Couldn't he just talk to his mother face to face? What was up with these men? He usually spoke to his mother about things like this during dinner. There was another question. Who would cook for his mom since she always came home late, hungry?
"Well? What is it now?" the man asked
Masato bowed in apology. "I need to consider this. It's too much for one day."
"Is that so..." The men looked at each other. They were twins so they both nodded at the same time. "We'll drop you off back to your school."
Masato nodded. He felt a bit sorry but he also didn't want to accept without his mother's approval.
The men sighed as they walked back to the car and opened it for Masato.
Masato got into the car. He looked at the school once more. Was it for him or not?
It took them an hour to reach back to Masato's school.
"Hope you do consider Kuroi Yoru. Well call us when you are ready" the man said as he gave Masato a card. "Well then. Goodbye, for now."
***
For tonight dinner Masato wanted to make it extra special for his mom who still was working late hours at the hospital. He made her favorite foods and set them up nicely on the table. He even made her a banana sundae with whip cream. He wanted his mom to feel special like always. He added a cherry on top of the sundae.
"There. Now to wait for mom..." Masato mumbled as he sat down on his chair
"I'm home!" Masato's mom shouted as she entered the apartment in joy. It was obvious she had a good day at work.
"Welcome home mom! I made today's dinner your favorites!" Masato yelled as he walked out of the dining room.
"Yay. My day just keeps getting better." Masato's mom said. She took off her coat and placed it on the coat hanger. "Guess what?"
"Yes?" Masato asked
"You know that doctor I keep talking about?" Saya, Masato's mom, asked as she joined her son at the dining table. "Oh wow this looks great. Many women at work are jealous of me for having such a great son."
Masato smiled. "Yeah? What about that doctor?"
"He asked me out."
Masato stopped smiling. "So what did you reply to him?"
"I said yes silly, why?" Saya asked not liking her son's respond.
"Oh." Masato looked down at his plate. "I'm happy for you."
"Don't lie." Saya said. "What mother doesn't know her own son?"
Masato faked a smile. "I'm really happy for you mother."
Saya smacked her son on the head lightly. "No lying to mother or no toy car for you."
Masato pouted. "I was just shocked."
Saya gave her son a small hug. "I know you still love your father but I think it is time I moved on."
Masato sighed. "I hope everything works out for you, mother."
Saya kissed her son on the forehead. "So, what is it with this lovely dinner?"
"Umm... about that..." Masato mumbled as he touched his forehead. Would that be his last kiss from his mother?
"Yes?" Saya asked. She took a sip of the sundae first. "Awe this sundae just made my day. Yummy."
Masato bit his lip. "Umm..."
"Honey, you know you can tell me anything. Is school bothering you?" Saya asked as she placed the sundae down. "Are the guys bulling you again?"
"No it's not that"
"Oh good. Because of those assholes bully my son again I got a shot ready for them at the hospital. Mwahaha. Mother doesn't let anyone bully her son." Saya laughed her usual laugh that Masato loved.
Masato smiled, but it vanished once again.
"So what is it, love?" Saya asked once she calmed down.
"Umm..." Masato didn't know how to start up the topic.
"You can tell me after dinner at the moment I'm starving." Saya started eating the lovely dinner that her son made.
Masato nodded.
Saya burped loud after she finished eating. She rubbed her belly satisfied. "Oh that was just so good. One of the reasons why I always love coming home."
Masato smiled. "I'm glad you liked it"
"So are you ready to tell me?" Saya asked as she started picking the dishes. It was Saya's duty to wash.
"Well... It's about school"
"What about school, love?" Saya started washing the dishes.
"I've been scouted to Kuroi Yoru Academy, with full scholarship."
"A what academy?" Saya asked dumb found.
"Kuroi Yoru Academy."
"Kuroi Yoru Academy?" Saya repeated. "Never heard of it."
"I went there today in the morning and it seems like a good school..."
"Is that so...and do you by any chance have a picture of the school?" Saya asked once she finished washing the dishes.
Masato nodded as he pulled out the envelop he had received and gave it to his mother.
Saya took a hold of the envelope. "Wah...such an elegant envelope. It looks more expensive then this rundown apartment."
"Right? So I tried my best to not make a mess out of ripping it, but failed"
Saya laughed. "Silly son." Saya took a hold of the papers inside and started reading through them. It took her about thirty minutes to ready the whole thing. "And are you sure you want to go here?"
"I don't know..." Masato sighed
Saya set on the chair next to her son. "If it were up to me I would choose a school that has nothing to do with those assholes that always pick on you at school. Remember that time they threw away your test?"
Masato nodded. "But... It's an hour away from the school I'm attending right now and... i don't want to leave you here alone"
Saya smiled at her son before giving him a hug. "Masato, my son, way before I had you and way before I met your father I was able to take care of myself. If you feel like this school is for you then go. Don't let me hold you back. Enjoy what is given to you, sweetie."
Masato hugged his mother close. "Who will feed you when you're lazy? Who will do the cleaning for you?"
Saya started laughing. "You are my son not my slave."
Masato sighed. "But... who will make your favorite dishes like me?"
Saya frowned it did break her heart a bit. "Just go for one semester. If you don't like it, You may always come back."
"If it's not right for me, I'm coming back on that day" masato said
"What day?" Saya asked a bit confused.
"Any day"
Saya smiled slightly. "Go for me okay. That way I can know what an elite school is like."
"Alright, mother" Masato said as he kissed his mother's cheek. Hopefully that wasn't his last.
Saya smiled slightly. "When do you start?"
"Uh... Tomorrow I guess"
Saya felt a stab in her heart. "So fast... I guess we better get your stuff packing."
Masato nodded. "Then... I'll get packing..."
"Let me help." Saya said as she followed her son to his room. "Make sure to take a picture of your father so he can watch over you while you go to that school."
"I'm going to take a picture of you too mother." Masato said.
Saya started laughing. "Okay. In that case I will need an extra picture of you." She took a hold of her camera and took a picture of her son. "This one is going in my wallet."
"I look retarded! Take a different picture!" Masato whined
Saya stuck out her tongue. "No. I love this one." She laughed.
Masato sighed. "Fine"
"Mwahaha. You look like a bunny." Saya said as she looked at the picture. "Bunny ears."
Masato rolled his eyes. They both reached Masato's room.
"Packing time!" Saya tossed her camera, who knows where, and took a hold of a luggage that was in the apartment closet.
The first thing that Masato took a hold of was his picture of his father and mother. Both Saya and Masato ended up falling asleep on the floor for the whole night. They had already finished packing masato's clothes and the posters that he had taped on his wall ready. All that was left was for Saya to say goodbye to her son once she woke up. Saya woke up and looked at Masato. Her baby was going somewhere without her. Tears filled her eyes.
She hugged her son. "I love you." She whispered in his ear. Saya stood up from the floor and started getting dressed for work. She kissed her son on the cheek goodbye before leaving the apartment.
